The white balance task
For this task I had to record different qualities of light. when I had my camera setting ready to take a photograph. On my camera monitor after I press the "Fn" button I can see that the white balance on the system is on "AWB" which means it is on auto. So, I changed it into three different settings Daylight, shade and Incandescent. the daylight setting gave me the same results when I had it on auto whereas shade give like a orange filter effect and Incandescent gives out a blue colour effect.

Sebastiao Salgado exhibition
I visited the Sebastiao Salgado exhibition at the natural history museum in South Kensington. I think the work that I saw is a mixture of portrait and documentary photography. I thought it was very interesting because Sebastiao tends to explore different and beautiful environment in the world. Furthermore, it is clear that he documents the different life cycle of the communities and with nature aswell.
The first image on the left, I can see people standing on boat in the ocean. The sun i high above the subjects which creates a siloulette and a reflection effect on the water. The next photo is a another portrait with a cow. Sebastiao Salgado tries to capture the physical connection between mankind and nature by taking a shot of the animal and the people in Africa. The horn isa symbol that the people are taking care of it and the man is actually touch the creature with his hand. The third picture is a dramatic landscape. I think Salgado draw us into this image of capturing a high detailed mountains. Looking at it is too realistic and having your eyes on it just makes you wanna go there and see the environment physically. Finally, the bottom picture is my favourite image that I saw at the exhibition. It is a photograph of an Anhinga has captured a fish with its mouth. I think that the photographer is trying to capture the interaction between humans and animals. Also, he tries to show different connection between nature and human. I feel that he has archived the objective because he had taken the perfect moment of the animal taking its prey much like human capturing a mammal creature. |
Documentary Photography
Documentary Photography is a form of photography which involves of taking o a historical event. Furthermore, documentary photography is often to take photographs of people aswell rather than landscape and any kinds of subjects.
Documentary practical
There was a sports day at the school. I don't really know that much aspect of documentary photography so I thought this school event would be a good start. When I arrived at the schools enormous field there were a lot of people sitting down around the race track and getting prepared for the events. Many audience were showing enthusiasm and supporting their team with their signs. I've managed to capture the perfect moment of the subject in action of example doing the jumping events, running and the throwing activity with their facial express aswell. Overall, i thought I did a pretty good job at documenting the sports day, but it could of been better if I was in a better position of photographing the challengers. For example, the subjects body parts are being chopped off out of the frame.

Journey task
On the 27th of July I went to a convention called "Hyper Japan". Throughout my journey I had to travel from Tottenham to the Seven sisters underground train station first. Next, I had to change the line from King cross to Earls court and it took quite a while. After I've arrived at Earls court I surprisingly saw some people dressing up in costumes and I started to follow them. I had to follow a crowd of people outside of the Earls court centre to the main entrance of "Hyper Japan". Once, I purchase the ticket pass and I saw a huge amount of people dressing up as recognizable manga characters or anything involves with the culture. I tried experiencing shoot the subject vertical and horizontal to see what results I ended up with. Although, i wasn't really happy with the colour tone in the background. It has like a orange colour and I didn't like it. Also, some of the picture were overexposed and I couldn't get the whole frame of the people because they were so many moving about. It could be better if I had a flash unit to control my flash and getting a more suitable position of taking the picture of the models.
